Southwestern Newfoundland has much to offer visitors. Check out some of these other attractions while visiting Pirate's Haven.

Coastal Hiking

Being located along the south west coast of Newfoundland brings the beautiful beachy views of Bay St. George South. Our area boasts many trails and roads to and along the Atlantic ocean. Walk amongst the wildflowers, smell the ocean breezes, munch on the berries and comb the beaches for seaglass, driftwood, shells and other treasures.

Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing

We have multiple local rivers to explore with your rod. Grab your flies and fishing vest and try your luck at the salmon. Some amazing fish have come out of our rivers, enjoying the tranquility of the sport. We have anglers available to take you and teach you if you wish.

Swimming

In true Newfoundland fashion we cool off with a dip in a brook or river. We have lots of local natural swimming holes to enjoy. Put on your goggles, watch the fish swim below and see the different colors of the rocks as the sun hits reflects the water.

Volleyball

We have an on site volleyball court ready to use. Have a fun game of volleyball with your friends and fellow campers. With the floor of the court being all sand you get the beach volleyball feeling.

Fly Tying Classes

Learn something new! We can provide you with a fun lesson in tying salmon fishing flies. This is a good class for many ages and will provide you with a fun new skill.

ATV Tours

ATV Tours

We provide scheduled and custom/personalized guided ATV tours to take you adventuring. We offer ATV rentals for these guided tours as well so no need to fret! Scheduled tours include a traditional mug up lunch over an open campfire, trail side, with desserts as well as a hot home cooked supper upon return. These tours last all day. Your custom trips can be whatever you want them to be!

Shore Lunches

Shore Lunches

Pack up your lunch and head to one of our beautiful beach locations. Collect some driftwood, make a little fire and cook your meal over that open flame. It always tastes best this way 🙂

Sightseeing

Sightseeing

From towering Sea stacks, to flower covered meadows our area boasts natural beauty. Take a walk, drive, ATV ride around and see what our little piece of paradise has to offer. We also have here at the campground, a 4 story building we like to call the crows nest. Walk on up to the top to see amazing views of our community and campgrounds. Also don’t forget to take a coin out of the pirates treasure chest up there. Reminder: Don’t forget that camera!

Grab a buddy or 2 and compete for bragging rights as the horseshoe champion, located right on site.

Rock Painting

Around the park you may come across a special little something or 2. Children and adults love to paint rocks and hide them around the park. Paint some yourself and poke them around for others to find and enjoy.

Historical Legge Homestead Museum

Historical Legge Homestead

Look for this beautiful  120 yr old house on Cartyville Beach Rd ,Cartyville, opened seasonally during summer months. Tour guides will take you on a tour through the house where you can view the antiques and catch a feeling of what it was like “back in the day” .   Browse the gift shop with all locally made souvenirs, wooden signs  , knitting , sewing , paintings ,  earrings  , medicine bags plus much more. Sit and relax ( picnic tables available) and  enjoy the scenery around the Homestead  that shows the banks of Robinson’s river, farmlands and Cartyville Beach.
